Troublesmiths is a social enterprise for young people (YP) to create and sell products on-line and at a retail shop in Hobart Tasmania. Troublesmiths has a ‘whole of community’ focus where local businesses and community members partner to achieve the results; giving YP real life exposure to work, employers, local communities and beyond.

Our growing Youth Social Enterprise is looking for a motivated Employment and Business Development Officer to develop and implement growth and sustainability strategies in alignment with KPI’s and the Troublesmiths brand and vision. The Opportunity

Our growing Youth Social Enterprise is looking for a motivated Employment and Business Development Officer to develop and implement growth and sustainability strategies in alignment with KPI’s and the Troublesmiths brand and vision. Candidates should have the right blend of analytical talent and business know-how, with strong knowledge in marketing and promotions.

Successful applicants should be team players who not only understand how to identify new business and market opportunities, but also know what it takes to work with YP helping them move forward and opening up opportunities. We’re especially looking for someone with great communication skills, as you’ll be expected to interact with key stakeholders, employers and clients on a daily basis. Preference will be given to candidates who plan to stay and grow with our organisations for the foreseeable future.

Essential Skills

  • Qualifications in Marketing or Business related disciplines, or a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in business or business development
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement business development strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and run marketing campaigns using Facebook and Google Ads
  • Demonstrated written skills with experience in writing budgets, and financial reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community organisations, employers and individuals in a youth participation framework
  • Desirable experience working with YP, including those from a refugee, CALD, ATSI or disability background, within a community development context
