Workskills is a leading not-for-profit community based employment services provider. For over 25 years we have offered support, employment and training solutions to job seekers, employers, industry and the community.

Our history

Workskills Employment Solutions is a not for profit community organisation which has assisted thousands of people to access training and find ongoing, sustainable employment.

Workskills began in 1983 as the Bridgewater-Brighton Community Youth Support Scheme, providing community training and employment assistance to long term unemployed people in the area.

At the end of 1989, CYSS became Workskills Inc, operating as Bridgewater/Gagebrook SkillShare, with community based projects operating in the Bridgewater/Gagebrook area, New Norfolk and at Ellesmere Farm.

SkillShare successfully provided training in a wide range of areas including aged and disability care, horticulture, construction, retail, cleaning and literacy and numeracy.

Workskills began delivering Job Network services in 1998 and is a leading provider of employment services to the community. Workskills delivers high quality, individualised services to people looking for work and to employers. We have operational sites at Bridgewater, New Norfolk, Glenorchy, Hobart and Oatlands and our corporate office is in Macquarie Street, Hobart.

Workskills Training & Development, a registered training organisation, was established in 2005 and delivers quality training in vocational pathways.

In July 2009, Job Network was replaced by Job Services Australia. As a Job Services Australia provider, Workskills will continue to provide employment services which fulfill our vision of contributing to the growth of capable, working, prosperous communities.
