Youth Entrepreneurial Services (YES) is a social enterprise for young people (YP) to create and sell their own products and services on-line and through pop-up stores/markets using uniquely-designed retail modules. YES harnesses the YP’s interests. They will decide on the products and services they produce (e.g. creative arts, gifts, woodwork, photography, web design).
YES has a ‘whole of community’ focus where local businesses and community members partner to achieve the outcomes; giving YP real life exposure to employers, their local communities and beyond.
The Enterprise Coordinator will take responsibility for the commercial and operational management of the YES social enterprise and lead the strategic development of social entrepreneurship within the initiative.
Experiential engagement is the key to this initiative. YP gain practical experience in design, manufacture, promotion, IT, web-design, stock control, administration, retail and management. YES will demonstrate to local employers the potential of these YP. YES will recruit any YP 15-24 years old at risk of long term unemployment in Southern Tasmania. These YP often have multiple and complex challenges including low literacy and numeracy, low educational attainment, lack of modelling around employment, low resilience, ATOD issues, mental health issues, young parenthood, homelessness and trauma backgrounds.
